Buddha Walking w/ Umbrella
Bronze Thai Walking monk statue wearing traditional monk attire, also referred to as the traveling monk – he holds a small rice bowl and teapot at the end of a shoulder strap, with an umbrella resting on his shoulder and a walking stick in his right hand.
in Thailand monks dressed in a similar fashion to this statue get up early every morning to collect alms, this usually consists of donations of food by the village people in their district or near their monastery. They are always barefooted and carry a bowl for rice, curry and other condiments donated to them. Alms collecting by the monks is done to show humility and detachment from material possessions. Upon receiving the donations, the monks give their blessings.
