Hand-woven sticky rice baskets, also known as "kathip khao", are a significant source of income for families in Laos. These baskets are traditionally used to serve sticky rice, or "khao niao". They come in various sizes, from small individual baskets to large ones used by vendors in markets and along roadsides. Creating these baskets requires skill and patience, as the intricate weaving technique can take hours to complete. The process begins with cutting long rattan leaves, which are then soaked in water. Bamboo slats are used to create a frame to support the rattan and the basket's lid. The weaving process involves meticulous braiding, folding, and sewing to produce the finished rice baskets
