Sīvali, known as Thiwali in Myanmar, is an esteemed disciple of Buddha and recognized as an arhat among Theravada Buddhists. He is the patron saint of travelers, believed to protect homes from misfortunes like fire and theft.

Depicted standing with a walking staff, a fan or umbrella, an alms bowl, and meditation beads, Sīvali is said to be the son of Queen Suppavasa. He is known to have stayed in his mother's womb for seven years due to past karma and could speak immediately upon birth. Sariputta, a leading disciple of Gautama Buddha, accepted him into the sangha. Many in Myanmar believe they can summon Sīvali through a particular chant, bringing prosperity and happiness.
