Benjarong, Bowl-1 7" Diameter

A round porcelain bowl about 7 inches across, painted in the Benjarong manner of Thailand. The name points to the old “five-color” court style: fields of red, blue, green, yellow, and a gold-tone outline. That gold is painted decoration on glaze—not a solid-gold vessel.

Benjarong grew from Ayutthaya and later Bangkok workshops that covered white porcelain with tight floral, flame, and geometric borders. Bowls like this sat on royal and temple tables and later in ordinary houses for sweets, fruit, or a single serving. The 7-inch size works for soup, salad, dessert, or a shelf display.

Factory-printed “Asian” bowls flatten the line. Benjarong depends on layered color and a raised gold-tone edge you can see when the light hits the rim.

Hand-wash only. Do not microwave if the gold-tone paint is present. Dry fully.
