Cast Bronze Monday Buddha Statue, 10 Inches Tall

This cast bronze statue shows the Monday Buddha standing with his right hand raised to shoulder height and the palm facing out. It stands 10 inches tall. The listing says it was made in Thailand using the lost wax method and exported with permission from the Thai government, and the photos show a warm gold-bronze finish on a small base.

In the Thai weekday system each day has its own Buddha image, and the Monday image recalls the story of the Buddha stepping in to calm relatives who were quarreling over water rights. People often keep the image for their birth day on a home altar, and it is also given as a gift to someone born on a Monday.

It is one of Naree's picks on Uniquely Thai Lao TV.
