This cast bronze statue stands 18 inches tall and shows the Buddha for Saturday, known in Thailand as Pang Nak Prok. He sits cross-legged on a stepped base with a many-headed naga rising behind him in a fan of spikes. The photos show a gold-tone metal with fine scale detail on the hood. The listing says it was made in Thailand by the lost wax method and exported with the Thai government's permission.
Thai families pick the Buddha image for their birth day, and Saturday's is the naga pose, based on the story of the serpent king rising over the Buddha during a flood. It is heavy cast metal, so set it on a firm shelf or altar table and dust it with a dry cloth.
It is one of Naree's picks on Uniquely Thai Lao TV.
