Cast Bronze Earth-Touching Buddha Statue, 17 Inches Tall

This cast bronze Buddha is seventeen inches tall and sits in the bhumisparsa mudra, the gesture of calling the earth to witness. The right hand reaches down to touch the ground, and the left hand rests open in the lap. The photo shows a bright gold-toned finish with a small tag attached.

The earth-touching pose recalls the moment the Buddha, seated beneath the bodhi tree, asked the earth to bear witness to his enlightenment. It is one of the most common and well-loved images in Thai and Lao temples and homes. The statue is handcrafted and is shown on Uniquely Thai Lao TV among Naree's picks.
