Carved Long-Tailed Rooster, 15.5 Inches

One painted wooden rooster, 15 1/2 inches tall, as listed. He faces to the side. The comb is red, the beak and feet are yellow, and the body is a pale tan with dark strokes for the wing. The tail is not a spray of loose feathers. It is carved as a tall loop, with green painted in the opening, and it accounts for much of the height. He stands on a dark block that is part of the same piece.

The paint is already thin in places, so the wood shows through. That wear is in the photographs. In Indonesia, a rooster is a usual subject for market wood carving. This page does not name the island or the tree, and it does not give a width.

Dust it. Do not scrub the paint or leave it in water.
