Village foundries in Indonesia cast small animals using the lost-wax method: a wax dog is formed, packed in clay, fired so the wax leaves, then filled with molten bronze. The shell comes off, and the metal is cleaned. What you see is bronze, not a gold-colored coating. That is why it sits heavier than painted resin dogs sold as “bronze look.”
