Carved Teak Elephants Beneath a Scaled Canopy on Round Base, 11 Inches Tall

This sculpture is hand carved from natural teak from Thailand and stands 11 inches tall. A group of elephants stands close together on a round base, with their trunks meeting in the center beneath a large canopy carved with overlapping scales. The wood is a medium brown, and each piece differs slightly in its grain.

In Thailand the elephant is a revered national symbol, and in Laos it appears on old banners and in temple carvings. Carved groups like this are given as housewarming gifts. Place it on a shelf or table, dust it with a soft brush, and keep it out of damp so the teak stays smooth.
