Painted Wood Rooster with Tall Looped Tail on Stand, 15.5 Inches Tall

This solid wood rooster stands 15.5 inches tall on a dark block that is carved with the figure. The body is pale tan with dark blue-grey strokes on the wing, the comb is red, and the beak and feet are yellow. The tail is carved as a tall loop, with green painted in the opening, and it accounts for much of the height.

Long-tailed roosters are a classic subject of Thai and Lao carvers and painters, and they decorate village homes and market stalls. It is tall enough to anchor a sideboard or an entry table. The paint is slightly worn by design. Dust with a soft cloth and keep it out of damp.
