This bronze gong is 20 inches across and comes with a padded beater. The listing says the bronze is hand hammered and the dragon design is hand painted, so each one varies slightly. The photos show red, gold and blue dragons around a raised gold center. You choose a black or a gold base color from the menu.
Gongs are used in the villages, temples and homes of Thailand to mark special occasions, struck once to open a ceremony or in slow rhythm to set the pace of chanting. The painted dragon is a cousin of the serpentine naga seen on temple stairways. Please hang it from a sturdy frame or stand.
