This large temple-style replica of the Emerald Buddha is made of resin and offered in two sizes, 30 inches or 36 inches measured knee to knee, with a choice of seasonal robe. The 30 inch size comes in the Winter, Spring/Rainy Season or Summer robe, and the 36 inch size comes in the Summer robe; that larger configuration stands 102 inches tall on a base 60 inches wide by 36 inches deep. It is handcrafted by Thanakrit Kanyaprasit.
The original Emerald Buddha (Phra Kaew Morakot) is Thailand's most revered Buddha image, enshrined at Wat Phra Kaew in the Grand Palace in Bangkok. Its story passes through Chiang Rai, Lampang, Chiang Mai and Luang Prabang before King Rama I enshrined it in Bangkok in 1784. Three times a year, at the change of seasons, the image's robes are changed in a royal ceremony, which is why this replica is offered in summer, rainy season and winter attire.
