Hand-Painted Wood Sitting Chicken Figurine in Green, 4 Inches

This little chicken is handcrafted from wood and stands 4 inches tall. It sits upright looking straight ahead, with a glossy green body covered in small yellow dots, an orange head, a red comb and wattle, and a pointed beak. The shape is simple and rounded, and the bright paint gives it a cheerful, folk-art look.

Chickens wander through almost every village in Thailand and Laos, and roosters and hens are a favorite subject for carvers and painters. This one is sized to sit with the miniature wood furniture in the shop, or it can perch on the edge of a shelf, a windowsill or a plant pot. Dust it with a dry cloth and keep it out of the rain.

It is one of Naree's picks for Uniquely Thai Lao TV.
