Red Lacquered Hardwood Mermaid Statue, Hand-Carved, 19 Inches Tall

This solid hardwood mermaid is skillfully hand carved and stands 19 inches tall. It is finished in a high gloss red, with long flowing hair, arms folded across the chest and a tail that fans out in deep, pointed scales at the base. The lacquer shows off every curve of the carving.

In the Thai Ramakien, the golden mermaid Suvannamaccha is a well-known character, and mermaids appear in Thai folk tales and mural art. A statue like this fits a shelf, a console or a hallway. Dust with a soft cloth, keep it out of damp and strong sun so the gloss stays even.

Naree chose it for Uniquely Thai Lao TV.
