This set is a pair of carved hardwood busts, one woman and one man, about 12 inches tall each. The wood is dark and polished with a clear finish. The woman wears a folded head covering and the man a wrapped headcloth, and both are carved head and shoulders only, not as full figures. The five photographs show both busts and the back of the headdress.
The wood is listed as Asian hardwood, and no species is claimed. Carved busts of Thai people are a long-time craft, and this pair suits a shelf, a cabinet or a console. The grain and carving will vary from the photos. Dust them with a dry cloth, and avoid water or harsh polish.
