This back scratcher is carved from makha hardwood and is 16 inches long overall. A small lady figure is shaped into the wood partway along the handle, and the far end curves into a rounded tip for reaching the middle of your back. The wood has a smooth reddish-brown finish, and the long, slim shape is light enough to hold in one hand.
Makha is a dense hardwood that grows in Thailand and Laos and is used for furniture, floors and small carvings. A tool like this is a classic market find and a fun gift, with a bit of humor in the carved lady who does the scratching for you. Wipe it with a dry cloth now and then.
